How Do I Know If Counseling is What I Need?

People seek counseling for many different reasons. Have you tried self-help books or getting advice from friends or relatives and haven’t been able to resolve the issues that trouble you? Do you feel confused and not sure what you are feeling? Or do you identify feelings but you are not sure what to do with them? Do you find yourself behaving in counter-productive ways, ways that hurt yourself or others around you?

Maybe it’s time to seek therapy.

Friends and family can often be helpful, but sometimes people want and need an outside observer with experience, training and knowledge. Talking things out with a professional can be of great value, helping you with strategies to understand what you need to do to make the changes you desire.

The fact that you are at my website indicates you have had the courage to look for information that can help you. Beginning therapy is exciting but also can stir up some ambivalent feelings. This is natural. We will start where you are and work at a pace that’s most productive for you. In my experience, a collaborative relationship is the most fruitful. Together we can identify the areas of your life you feel are not working as well as you’d like as well as build on your strengths. My interactive approach is encouraging, but without pressure, compassionate and solution focused.

You can find individual therapy very helpful if you face these following issues:

      You feel depressed

      Anxious or stressed

      Difficult to be optimistic

      Experience low self-esteem

Find relationships difficult to establish or sustain

Struggle with the stress of a career in the arts

For nearly two decades I have motivated, educated and inspired clients to explore their options and enrich their lives through psychotherapy. I help individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, sexual abuse issues, as well as work, relationship, bereavement and family issues. In addition, I specialize in working with artists and others in creative fields. My interactive approach stimulates the individual’s motivation toward personal growth, empowerment and change.
